Tiege Soranus
From Crossroads Wiki
His father died before he was even born, and thus did the life of Tiege Soranus begin with a brand he would carry on him always. Galen Soranus took Tiege into his family after the babe's birth, and his mother devoted herself henceforth to the life of a Purist, even leaving off communication with her son.
Perhaps it has been ill luck, but Tiege has lived his life always feeling that people were giving him doubtful looks, judging him for some unknown crime. He's growing up very obsessed with the notion of justice and with proving himself. Galen was gracious to see that he received all of the tutelage of any of his own children, and Tiege took to it with a fierce obsession. It has been his desire to serve his family.
At thirteen he began an apprenticeship to an Advocate of the law, arranged by Baron Galen Soranus. He worked diligently to learn the art, grow skilled at the rhetoric, and take care of the massive amounts of paperwork that any apprentice is assigned to deal with. It was his passion and obsession. When his cousin, Baron Athar, came to court at Gateway, he came along but would frequently return to Draught for his apprenticeship.
A relationship with Zipporah Gilat seemed to derail some of the course of his life. The precise details are unclear, though at her funeral Tiege spoke openly about the fact that he and she had been intimate, and that he had loved her, despite the fact that Zipporah was apparently a vampire. The tangled web around her death-- purportedly stabbed by Baron Athar while in the middle of his own intimate act, but something the Baron was never actually tried for (is it illegal to kill something already dead?)-- is something that has left Tiege a different person. Always serious before, it now seemed to refine the steel of his nature and the resolution of his being. Somewhere in the mix he resigned his apprenticeship, and currently he works for Princess Eleanor Caprios, although his stated purpose is to become a Priest of Providence.
Trivia
Anyone who lingers near the seedier areas of Gateway would know that Tiege is often found there distributing food, articles of clothing, or medicines to those in need. He's known to have a soft spot for the poor, and is responsible for the Winter Charity Faire, a benefit for the poor and homeless.
He's never been seen with any weapon but the pen, but he's always jogging on the beach in the mornings when he's on Gateway. Often enough, he has a couple of companions: Marquis Dorian Claremont, and Master Veritas Marsters.
Tiege is the non-noble branch of the Soranus family, and as such has a more moderate personal lifestyle. He doesn't own any ostentatious garb, and his living quarters are in the Brownstone Common.
House Soranus
The House of Soranus has long been known amongst Draughtians and the wider Empire as stern moralists, a bloodline steeped in honorable traditions and renown for the strength of their word. A Soranus does not lie, it has been told, and their peers have often times come to them as arbiters in conflicts.
