To ensure that there is no confusion and no upset, no I am not the original Loki of this game. And no, I did not take this name out of some arrogant desire to be confused with her. In 2004, I developed a character named Loki for a game called Project Infinity. I never finished the development, but later that same year while I was still working on the application, I was offered the opportunity to join the Rhost development team. Suddenly, the need for a more permanent online persona became necessary. There's an Odin on that team, and so as a joke my wife suggested I continue to use Loki. I did. It stuck. And since then I have become Loki on nearly every other game I have ever been on (including M*U*S*H, BrazilMUX, Dragonlance: Age of Mortals, Haunted Memories: Vienna by Night, TableMUSH, and others). I jokingly refer to myself as Loki@Everywhere, and I mean it. I have Loki on over 30 games, now, either by @name or @alias. So when I use this name, please understand that it is not because I do not respect the Loki whom this game honours; rather, it is because I am and have been Loki for a very long time now.

That said, I do want to note that after reading through the tribute to Loki, numerous journal entries written about her, and after reading through what she created when she made this game, I am honoured to carry the same appelation. Loki was--from everything I know of her--an amazing woman, and I wish her the best in whatever life she has passed on to after this one.

My Characters

I play the following characters here on Crossroads:

  • Bailey Guybrush: Far too self-sacrificing for his own good, Lord Shadrach's Folly tries to make the world a better place--too bad he's got his head too far in the clouds to notice the more important apsects.
  • Faustus Wolsing: Loyal to a fault, Sir Faustus Wolsing has been awarded the position of First Knight. Rumours claim that necromancy was legalized for the sole purpose of keeping him alive to serve the post, and surely the Knight has done nothing to dissuade the rumours.
  • Natalia Paggion: Young and impetuous, the Lady Baronet Amphorae is surely doomed to get herself in over her head someday.

I am also known on the game as Lykos; your friendly code and wiki admin.

My Contributions

I'm proud of my accomplishments, and how I've helped the game. Sue me, but I'm going to toot my own horn:

  • Shadrach's Folly: World building has always been a hobby of mine. The opportunity to create a relatively untouched lordship within the land of Mists has been an exciting one, and so I created Shadrach's Folly for my alt Bailey.
  • Wiki<>+news interface: After upgrading the MUSH's wiki, Diuturnal asked me if I could help with getting the game's SQL interface to work. I did so on the night of April 24th, 2008. By the end of April 25th, I had already completed the MUSH side code for a Wiki<>+news interface, much to Diuturnal and Minuet's pleasure. That code is expected to be implemented MUSHwide by the end of April.
  • Magical Proficiency: A work-in-progress essay on the various power levels of Mistian mages and what they are capable of doing. Magic systems are always my absolute favourite part of designing a new world, so I've sorta wormed my way into helping the Magic Admins with the task of fleshing things out a bit neater. This one is based on the New World of Darkness's magical practices, with a hint of Ars Magica, a dash of Dungeons and Dragons, and a whole helping of my own personal creativity.
